My insurance did not cover the cost due to my age but the office offered an easy and affordable payment plan. From the first consultation to the last, the staff were easy going, informative and knowledgeable about how to achieve the results I desired. Dr. Russell is always so enthusiastic about the process and makes you feel great about yourself. He is truly an artist and will work magic with your teeth! Highly recommend!! #invisalign

Russel did an excellent job with my teeth, answered my many questions throughout treatment with detail, and he enjoys his work. Also, as far as I could tell, the best modern equipment was used for treatment, such as a video teeth scanner.

Katelyn Merritt I have been going to see Dr. Russel for 7 years, he has always done the best for me and have taken care of me and my teeth. I was there with my braces, when I got my braces off, when I got my permanent retainer and regular retainer. Even when I didn’t wear my retainer, he still did his best to make sure we fix the problem, he put me on Invisalign and golly they worked wonders!!! I was born without two teeth but thanks to him, I was able to get implants because we fixed the gaps so they could be wide enough for new teeth!!! I now feel like a normal person and they were even able to help me when my permanent retainer broke off. I wanna thank everyone who works there. This is the best orthodontist I have ever been to! Thanks to them, I feel comfortable with my smile again. Thank you. Also!!!! Bob is the best dog ever and deserves a raise!!! Grateful for the caring staff who made my children feel comfortable and excited to have their teeth cleaned. The ladies at the front desk are very welcoming and always pleasant. The communication of appointments openings or time accommodations is excellent as well. Very pleased and worth the wait!

Megan, front desk, was kind and knowledgeable with my insurance via text (love that you can do this instead of call) before I even walked in the door. My hygienist was great but unfortunately I cant remember her name. She was gentle, patient with my concerns, and thorough. Dr Harmon Smith was so cute and I loved her perkiness coming in the room! She addressed my concerns and made me feel at ease. I am very glad I chose oconee dental!

Elizabeth Bamburg I went in to get an emergency tooth extraction (1 Wisdom tooth) from Dr.Pollack. He was very informative & his team here in Athens, GA were EXTREMELY compassionate when it came to the pain post treatment. They took care of me the best they could, returned my calls/ answered my questions promptly & even watched my baby girl as I was in agonizing pain. (I had a fully developed “bony” compacted tooth that was kicking my butt) it’s safe to say I have never felt more safe in the hands of ANY medical provider as I did with them. I will 100% refer Oral surgery associates - Dr. Pollack to anyone in need.

Craig Harris My son had complex oral surgery here through Dr. David Miller. Even though the experience was complex, they made my wife and son feel very comforted through the whole experience. We live 1.5 hours from Athens, the drive was well worth it. The whole staff is absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend!

JR Wynn First time here and it was a great experience. They were able to change my appointment to a sooner date which really helped me out. Lindsay greeted me by name as I walked in the door. The wait time was less than two minutes. There were a lot of other patients in the back so I know they weren’t just slow. I didn’t even have to wait in the back for the doctor. Lexi and Dr. Johnson greeted me and went straight to work. They were fast, efficient and friendly the entire time. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Rick Selleck I’ve been going to this practice for years, starting out as a patient of Dr. Alex and now patients of Dr. Johnson. My wife and I have always loved Dr. Alex, the dental hygienists, and the front office team—everyone is so friendly and professional. When Dr. Johnson joined the practice he did some tooth repair work for me. I have a lot of anxiety about dental procedures from childhood experiences, but he was incredibly understanding and gentle. He really helped put me at ease, so much so that I actually got through the appointment without my usual dread! Getting dental work done isn’t my idea of fun, but Dr. Johnson has made it as comfortable as I could hope for. We moved our teenage kids over to the practice last year, and they’ve both had wonderful experiences with Dr. Johnson and the whole staff. It’s nice knowing our entire family is in such good hands. Kristine Alcomendas The receptionist was very inconsiderate. My husband made an appointment for two yesterday and we are cancelling the one for today because I am sick and so congested. I don’t think the dentist will be comfortable cleaning me if I keep coughing and sneezing. We are rescheduling it but the receptionist was so firm thats she’ll charge me of $75 for not showing up which is not acceptable. We only made the appointment yesterday and it’s not like we are cancelling it 1-2 hrs before. We called at 8Am to cancel the 2pm appointment. After the call, I received an email that I was indeed charged of $75 which is very unfair. I hope the management will do something about this.

Shirley Daniel If I could leave no stars I would! This place used to be awesome before the NEW crew. I dont know what happened and what took place but its now the worst. The phones are never answered to make appointments. My daughter had an appointment at 2:00 were standing at the door waiting to come in because they still have the door lock for lunch when lunch is over at 2. Then proceeded to get an attitude with me because I was frustrated because I was there on time having to stand outside. Not to mention trying to bamboozle me into another contract which I refuse to sign. How do you want to start me back over to nearly $4,000 when we only have a few months of treatment left with a $1700 balance.... I was not signing that. I was treated so poorly my last visit I discontinued my daughters treatment there. And because I canceled and wanted to get her records all of a sudden there is a $150 record fee. $150 to email my daughters records to the new orthodontist. I know that was not right but I paid it so I could be rid of this poorly managed office. If I can offer advice bring back the original crew. Bring Michelle back. The ladies that are there now their customer service is awful!!!!

From my initial consult to my visit today, the customer service I received from Mechele, and Emily at the front desk was top tier and is unmatched. What I loved the most is how kind and loving they were, and their willingness to help relieve stress they didnt cause. I was also impressed with how kind the orthodontist and the assistant were and how comfortable they made me feel from start to finish. Tracy Adkins Ive been going to Dr. Ware for decades and he is the best dentist ever. I was lucky to find him after many years being terrified of dentists. Dr. Ware always makes sure I am at ease and uses gas if I am extra anxious. I have needed a ton of intensive work: bridges, crowns, implants. I have been extremely happy with all of it. Regular cleanings are no problem, too. All of the employees go out of their way to be kind and make your experience great. I have recommended him to friends and co-workers. Dont hesitate to make an appointment.

When I couldnt find a ride on time to my 9 am appointment , I called them and said I’ll be late 8 min. Instead of 9. 08 I was there at 9.15. They cancelled my appointment without telling me and charged me $50. Still in surprise how they treat their 4 year old customers. That $50 will be my last payment for Athens Smiles.

Astrid Tarleton This was my first time with Athens Smiles and what a wonderful first impression it was! Everyone was so kind and easy to talk to. My hygienist was diligent and gentle on my teeth. My dentist was able to explain potential reasons for my teeth sensitivity. The lady at the front desk was able to answer all my questions and breakdown of insurance coverage. Everyone was very knowledgeable and you can just tell it’s a positive work environment which makes for a positive patient experience!

Tracy was great - she was chatty but not too chatty and made me feel very comfortable. As you only see the dentist for a few minutes, that really sets the tone for when you do see her. I recently transferred my care to Dr. Nelms practice, and I could not be happier. The office itself is clean, comfortable, and modern and it is clear that the employees there enjoy their working environment. They made time to ensure I was comfortable at every stage of thee process, they stopped to make sure I had enough water/air/breaks in between stretches of treatment, and Dr. Nelms was exceptionally gentle. She made sure the numbing shot didnt go into my sinuses and down the back of my throat and that I was properly numbed before beginning her procedure making my two front teeth look beautiful and even again. If youre looking for a dental team who cares about their patients well being and a dentist with an artful eye and a compassionate practice, look no further.

She and her staff have put together a plan for getting my teeth back in great shape. I have had the privilege of having this incredible duo as I dealt with navigating getting a permanent crown. They were patient, kind, welcoming, and professional. As well as empathetic, as I know I have a relatively low pain tolerance. Even as an adult, I don’t like to always go to the dentist but knowing that they would be the ones aiding me made it something to look forward to. Although I’ve had an amazing time regardless of who oversaw my care at McRae, these two stand out and I want to ensure they get the recognition they deserve. Michelle Cahoon My dad came to get his teeth removed for dentures. He had been advised he needed some other surgery to make the dentures work and this was communicated but they said they could do what he needed. They cast for dentures and removed the teeth and the dentures would not work. He went back several times and finally after seeing another doctor in the office, who isnt usually there, was told the dentures they made were no good and should not have been made until after his other surgery. So after he had everything else done elsewhere to prepare his mouth he hoped they would make him a complimentary denture set since the one they had made was useless and his insurance paid for it. But no, they said he would pay again and his insurance will only pay for dentures every 4 years so now we are stuck. Its a shame they wont make the situation right.
