3 /5 Michael Scott: My occlusal guard, purchased from an out-of-state, developed a crack. I was not a patient, but I called Athens Smiles on a Thursday, and they were able to schedule me for Monday. The dental assistant and Dr. Clay both examined the guard and determined repair was not an option. I was offered the opportunity to have a new guard made in a reasonable amount of time and at a reasonable price. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and effective in their jobs. The practice made such a good impression that I will be returning not only to pick up my new guard, but also to become a patient.
Follow up: My occlusal guard fits perfectly, and I am very happy with it. The people at Athens Smiles are fantastic. They are knowledgeable, skilled, honest, polite, and kind. Unfortunately, the corporate office, located somewhere out of state, is not. They repeatedly tried to balance bill me ( get me to pay the difference between what they and my insurance company determined was the price for the occlusal guard and the corporate office’s list price for the guard). Without the help of the fine local folks, I would be locked in a battle with a corporation over the bill. I remain a huge fan of the people at Athens Smiles, but I decided to seek another local dental provider to avoid future headaches with the corporate office. The corporate office may not do this to all patients or to all insurance plans, but this was my experience.
I have learned that the local Athens Smiles office issued me a credit to satisfy my account with the corporate office billing department. Thank you very much to everyone at Athens Smiles for going above and beyond what should be necessary. Your efforts are sincerely appreciated.
