DeAnn Dent: Very neat place to put in your kayak/canoe. Amazing sight: The golden silk (orb weavers) spiders were so plentiful when we were there that we ended up trying to count them. We counted over 100 on only one side, of the boat ramp lane. They lined the road along and all the way to the boat ramp, on both sides and were hanging from trees as far into the woods as we could see. They are camouflaged very well. We left them to their habitat. Interesting sight to see.
Lake Chapman - Athens
Lake Chapman
Asif Iqbal: Lake Chapman is a hidden gem in Georgia, perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. Located within Sandy Creek Park, this lake offers a serene escape with stunning views, well-maintained trails, and plenty of recreational activities. One of the highlights of Lake Chapman is its beautiful, calm waters, ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding. The lake is spacious enough to enjoy a relaxing time on the water without feeling crowded. The boat ramp makes it easy to launch, and you can also rent equipment if you don’t have your own. For those who prefer land activities, the hiking trails around the lake are fantastic. They are well-marked, relatively easy to navigate, and surrounded by lush greenery. Whether youre looking for a short stroll or a longer hike, the trails offer plenty of scenic spots, including small bridges, picnic areas, and even some wildlife sightings. Fishing is another great option at Lake Chapman. The lake is stocked with fish, making it a great spot for both beginners and experienced anglers. There are designated fishing areas, and you’ll often see people casting their lines from the shore or small boats. The park itself is clean and well-maintained, with picnic shelters, restrooms, and ample parking. There’s even a small sandy beach area where visitors can relax or take a swim. It’s a great spot for families, solo adventurers, and even pets, as the park is dog-friendly (with designated areas for them to play). Overall, Lake Chapman is a peaceful and beautiful getaway that offers something for everyone. Whether youre visiting for a day of kayaking, a scenic hike, or just to relax by the water, this place is well worth the trip. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy Georgia’s natural beauty! #LakeChapman #GeorgiaNature #PeacefulEscape #Hiking #Kayaking #Fishing

In the Clurb We all Fam: I discovered a hidden gem of a winery, and I’m so glad I did! This charming spot has been around for over 20 years, crafting some of the most delicious wines I’ve ever tasted, perfectly paired with decadent truffle chocolates and oyster crackers. The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, making it ideal for a small gathering, a girls night out, or even a larger celebration. The customer service is top-notch, with a friendly and knowledgeable owner who made the experience even better. With a wide variety of wines to choose from, great pricing, and a picturesque setting, it’s truly a must-visit. Plus, if you love capturing aesthetic photos, this place is a dream! I’ll definitely be keeping this in rotation for future girls nights. Highly recommend! Ps keep a look out for Groupons for this winery they have great specials!
Hard Labor Creek State Park - Rutledge
Hard Labor Creek State Park
Justin Gregory: This Georgia State Park is a little off the I-20 beaten path...but worth the trip. This one is a little bit more "wooded" as there is plenty of trees covering the hiking trails. 2 lakes run through the walking trails with equestrian trails for those folks that have horses, with plenty of cottages and cabins available for overnight stays. Very kid-friendly, as there is miniature golf, a playground and plenty of covered picnic ares. For nature enthusiasts that will be in/around Atlanta, this is a MUST see....
Sandy Creek Park Beach - Athens

Eve D.: Beautiful park. Admission is $2 per person. Georgia state parking park pass doesnt work here. The park has numerous trails, restrooms, shelters scattered throughout the park. They have fishing areas, volleyball area, basketball area, new playground. It has a swimming area. The water isnt the most clean but it is water to swim in.

K. Katy: Internet said open 10-3 but it was not open. Very nice lady who was setting up for a wedding tried to find an open door but everything was locked. So we went to peak in the windows and someone was working inside who stopped and took his time to show us around. It was VERY small but clearly a labor of love. Lewis Grizzard was half and Erskine Caldwell was half. Fun and interesting.

Misti Bryan: Very quiet. Nice place for RVs. A few tent spots not far from the comfort station. Fishing is lousy, at least from the bank. Someone may have better luck with a boat, but no gas engines.
Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge - Woodbury
Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge
Pamela B: Covered bridge that is still in use!! Beautiful photo ops. It is also a nice place to sit by the creek and enjoy the calm. There are picnic tables and even stairs that lead down to the creek bed. I visited on a Friday morning. There was a little traffic, but other than that, I had an awesome time exploring the bridge. Definitely worth the time...

Maggie Carroll: We visited The Little White House to enjoy the retelling of the D-day prayer by a reenactor. He did a fantastic job representing FDR and is very knowledgeable about the family history. He encouraged questions and answers in character.
