06-2025 Boling Park in Hight rate 7 location for tourist in Marietta, GA, USA (part 2)Etowah River Park - Canton D-Ray: A Beautiful two day, (today & Friday) for a walk in the park. Go early in the summer to beat the heat. Plenty of walkers, joggers, bikers, dogs. But, not overly crowded. I noticed the concession stand opened today, also. I crossed the bridge over the Etowah River to go to Heritage Park on the other side. Easy riding or walking with kids, too. There is plenty of free parking. There is also a kayak launch here, if thats more your style.
Cherokee Veterans Park - Canton Gin Junior: Cherokee Veterans Park is an outstanding destination for sports enthusiasts and families alike. With its top-notch soccer and lacrosse fields, the park provides an excellent environment for athletes of all ages to enjoy the game. The fields are meticulously maintained, offering a pristine setting for both casual matches and competitive tournaments.
Beyond the playing fields, the park’s atmosphere is inviting, with plenty of space for spectators to relax and cheer on their teams. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, ensuring that everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable experience. What truly sets this park apart is its dedication to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, all while honoring the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship. Cherokee Veterans Park is a fantastic venue for sporting events and a wonderful place to spend a day outdoors with friends and family.
Heritage Park - - Claudio Artigas: Great paved walk trails, well maintained park, very clean and beautiful. Its long enough to get more than 3 miles of walking. The river runs thru, adding to the view. Great places for walking, running, bicycles and t to play around. Large grass areas and playground available. You also can bring your dog for a walk.
Georgia Museum of Art - Athens Postcards from Georgia: A wonderful experience and free with advance tickets. The permanent collections were very interesting and many pieces of art were beautiful and/or captivating! The temporary collections were not my style but the space provided by the museum was still done well.
The State Botanical Garden of Georgia - Athens A Hernandez: Beautiful place to explore all variety of plants though out the season. There is also a kids area where little ones will enjoy as well.
Also great location to take special occasion pictures
Sandy Creek Nature Center - Athens Sabrina Waters: Sandy Creek nature center is a beautiful place to step away from the busy pace of the city and explore the natural beauty of this hidden gem. The trails are peaceful and easy to access. After a wet season some trails may be impassable because they are in a low lying area. The center itself looks like a fun place to visit and learn about native plants and animals. (I had my dog so I didn’t venture inside) they have a nice newly constructed playground behind the center as well. There is also access to the paved greenway that goes through Athens.
World of Wonder Playground - Athens James Smith: Very cool playground for the kids. Lots of different areas to play and nice that it’s walled off with only one entry and exit. Absolutely would recommend to anyone with kids in the area.
More seating would be great! But pack some chairs and your set.
Sandy Creek Park - Athens Natalia Brewer: I LOVE the park. There is ample parking that is a short walk to the playground. The playground is gated so you don’t have to worry about your little ones escaping. There is plenty for them to do on the playground, which is equipped with nice, new, clean attractions. There are several shaded benches for parents to sit and chill, with a nice view of the beach a short distance away. The playground is situated on soft green grass which allows your children to play with their shoes off. There is also a misting station to cool off on hot summer days. You’ll also find grilling stations and picnic tables perfect for a Saturday picnic at the park. My kids and I will be back!!!!
TRR Cobb House - Athens Richard Moss: Cool house museum of a famous historic Georgian and Athenian. House has been moved twice, once to Stone mountain and recently back to Athens, which is quite neat in its own right. They are working hard to restore it completely in a period appropriate manner, down to ordering the same pattern hand-made carpets from a centuries old company in England!
Walker Park - Athens Moritz Maier: Great local sports park with something for everyone! Awesome biking and running trails, plus well-maintained fields for soccer, football, and baseball. Perfect spot to stay active and enjoy the outdoors!
