  • Great Wall of Happy Hollow - Athens
avd: Built by Fred Birchmore over five years while Fred was in his 70s. The wall was finished on 8/8/88. The outer layers of rock are field-stone and granite, obtained from fields and construction sites and hauled to the site in Freds passenger car. Theres celebrity rocks in the wall from places like Antartica, Mt. Everest, Afghanistan, Iran, Gibraltar, the Grand Canyon, the Flaming Gorge, Yangzte River, rivers of Denali, Wales, ice caves of Siberia and more. Theres prehistroic giant sharks teeth and geodes as well. The president of Hungary once walked atop the wall.

James Zorn: This play place had some interesting things that I havent seen everywhere. It has a nice lounge area for people to do work or watch sports while the kids play. The facility is spacious with enough play options for everyone. They have larger party rooms, which is nice. This place definitely has an industrial vibe, lots of unfinished space. Its not really warm and inviting. I had issues with a trampoline, and I spoke to a staff member about it. She did nothing just shrugged and didnt seem to care. This was very annoying. While no one was hurt, I felt like it was only a matter of time. They make u watch a safety video, and a lot of signage is posted about "jumping at your own risk." Seems like they would do that rather than to keep folks safe. Also, there is wear and tear on mats, and it seems like they need a refresh. Update: The management called me to speak with me about this review and is looking into stuff. They stated they take safety and security seriously.

DMC Films: I’m only giving four stars because the actual tree died and the tree that is currently there is a scion of that tree. But the tree is really beautiful and well-maintained. In a gorgeous neighborhood.

Givens Amy: Beautiful history home with new Art Museum attached to the back. The art work was remedial, not much to look at. The historic home itself was great. Love the architectural interior trims and staircases. They have a beautiful gown displayed in a case as well. Interesting place.

Kiah Newton: This is such a nice little gem within the city of Athens. Theres trails to walk, plenty of picnic space, a shelter area with picnic tables, good and clean bathroom facilities and much wildlife. Ive come several times now and plan to return more. Its a good place for a hike and to test yourself on some of the trails. If youre like me, you can be more adventurous and find some of the off-tail gems and follow deer trails to really get the wilderness feel.

John Godwin: Great place to “escape” the big city/UGA campus within a city I’ve ever seen. You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with 100 year old Oak trees, and undisturbed forests, beautiful area! Great place to take your dog on an adventure!
