5 /5 Daniel Clawson: I’d heard that Buckner’s had the best fried chicken in Georgia and I had to find out for myself. Taste is subjective, but I’d have to agree. This is the best fried chicken I’ve had in Georgia as of the time of this posting. Now, I’m not from Georgia and my sample size isn’t exhaustive, but it certainly is in the top three from anywhere, for me that is.
I do enjoy the family style dining and a chance to have some nice conversation with folks that didn’t arrive with you. I would recommend trying both barbecue sauces on the fried chicken, but the suggestion I wouldn’t have anticipated to be so good came from a gentleman sharing the table with us. He suggested drizzling some honey on the fried chicken. I did not expect that to be the best bite of the meal, but man o’ man, it was.
Other notable bites were the boiled potatoes and the cream style "shoe peg" corn. The creamed corn was on the black pepper forward way of doing it, which I loved, but just a heads up it’s more savory than sweet. Everything was delicious and it would have been enough just the savory dishes, but the meal rounded off with some absolutely delectable peach cobbler. Don’t forget to save room for the cobbler. You’ll be sad if you don’t.
