1 /5 Nathan Durrence: "Welcome to Bradley’s on the Square
– A Jackson Tradition, Reimagined."
Reimagined, a buyout many of us have experienced, the death of a golden goose, a birth of something sinister...
TLDR: someone thought gutting an iconic restaurant and replacing it with a cheap imitation would be a great idea.
Yall, I love giving positive reviews to amazing places, but I absolutely hate giving negative reviews, especially to places Ive frequented for the past 4 years. I first came to Bradleys Tavern for my 25th birthday, I had no idea of the lore this place had with what was a popular TV series that I STILL have not seen. The food was amazing, staff was on time and professional, it was a small town gem. Fast forward to today, I had no idea that Bradleys Tavern was not only remodeled, but also under new management. I was ABSOLUTELY upset at the way the current owners GUTTED the Tavern that held so many memories in my heart, and as many reviewers have mentioned, it feels like the soul has been sucked out of Bradleys.
While it only took about 30 seconds for the girl at the door to seat me and my grandmother, we waited an additional 5 minutes to get drinks, which then took another 5 minutes to bring them to the table. I decided to get a pimento cheese burger with bacon, a simple enough meal that came with optional sweet potato fries, my grandmother got chicken tenders as she only eats the smallest of amounts of food. Yall, it took them FIFTY minutes to bring us a burger and tenders, mind yall, they were only at 50% capacity. While my burger was well done as requested, the patty looked like it had been microwaved, there was the minimal amount of pimento cheese on this burger, it looked like there was maybe a tablespoon of cheese on the burger spread to make it look like it had adequate cheese spread. The buns were toasted, yet cold to the touch, and the sweet potato fries had a taste as if they were pulled out of a Publix bag and rapidly air fried. The atmosphere is changed completely, the friendly inviting tavern has been replaced with a bog standard burger joint that every southern town has had pop up in their area within the past 5 years, mediocre, bland food, and an atrocious wait time. Dont let Bradleys on the Square fool you, it is NOT the Bradleys Tavern many of us have come to know....
