1 /5 Jonae: I am appalled at the treatment I received from Halcyon. After my family lost most of their possessions in a fire, community members generously donated items to us. Those items were dropped off at Halcyon for safekeeping until I could pick them up the next day. I was told by the woman in charge that the box would be labeled and set aside so it would not be sold.
When I called to retrieve the items, I was told I had “called the wrong Halcyon” even though there is only one location in Thomasville. When I arrived in person, I was informed that my family’s donated items had been sold. To make matters worse, no effort was made to recover them, even from a customer they admitted knowing personally.
This was devastating for my family. What hurts even more is the lack of compassion or accountability in your response. The donors who gave these items in good faith also reached out and received the same dismissive explanation. This experience leaves me questioning how many others have been treated this way.
I do not doubt Halcyon has done good for the community, but in this situation, you failed to uphold even basic care and responsibility.
