William Root House Museum & Garden - Marietta (GA)

4 /5 Chelsea Johnston: My family took advantage of the free admission (as part of the Second Sunday program) and went to the William Root house. There’s a lot to see even though the ground and houses are not very large. If you are into Marietta or Civil War era history, then this is a great little place to visit. The museum has recently been updated with a lot of nice improvements. They have touch screens in most of the exhibits and a few small things for little kids to enjoy. Their gift shop was also very cute. I would definitely recommend a visit! FYI: -They do have a ramp and an outside elevator to get into the main levels of the buildings, but I did not see anything to help those with wheelchairs or strollers get to the second stories of these historic buildings. -there is a parking lot, but it is rather small

5 /5 Claire Mahoney: Our Garden Club had our November meeting at the William Root House and had an absolute fabulous time. Liz toured our group around the house, gardens and out buildings. Most of our group had never been and loved our experience. Think about them for your next meeting or group outing! Such a fabulous gem in our great city of Marietta! Their gift shop has AMAZING gifts as well!

5 /5 Joan Parker: This museum is chock full of history and committed to presenting a more inclusive story. The garden still showcases plants (including medicinal ones) from the historic era and will include a statue of one of the slaves who worked on the property.

5 /5 Lauren Hardy: An absolute gem within our gem city! The Root House is such a special piece of Marietta history. Beautiful gardens, adorable gift shop and really fun year round events. A must visit!
