1 /5 Hope Douglas: Horrible, horrible experience! If I could leave zero stars, I would.
My daughter and I were racially profiled during our visit. I am an African American mother with an 8-year-old daughter, born in 2016, who is 49" and naturally more developed than most children her age. Unfortunately, the staff at this establishment refused to believe she was 8, despite my explanations. They even went as far as saying she looked like a grown woman, which left my daughter in tears.
From the very beginning, the staff was rude for no reason. I came in well-dressed and professional, with my natural hair in a long fro. I wasn’t rude at all. I was rushed to sit down while trying to gently place my MacBook and devices down, as I usually use my pedicure time to do work since I’m a business owner myself. Instead of giving me a moment, they rudely walked away, all while giving strange looks at my daughter, who was standing by waiting to be seated. Mind you, she’s only 8 years old, and it was her second time getting a pedicure, so she didn’t know what to do next. It’s the job of the nail tech to guide her, but that didn’t happen.
Honestly, my first thought was to leave after those first rude interactions, but since I was new to the area and busy, I chose to stay—my biggest mistake. I didn’t read the reviews first, which I usually do, and now I regret it. My daughter ended up in tears because her feet weren’t even properly taken care of and being body shamed .
To make matters worse, I was forced to pay for this horrible service, as I didn’t want to be accused of theft, but I’ll be taking legal action against this establishment for racial profiling and the trauma they caused my daughter. No child should be body-shamed or treated with such disrespect.
If you are Black, I urge you to avoid this place. My daughter is now left questioning why she was treated like this, and no child should have to endure this kind of experience.
