Pitts Park - Clarkesville (GA)

4 /5 Pastor Jeff Byrd: We stooped here to walk after dinner. It is by the river has about a quarter mile loop around a playground and event stage. There were a few families on the playground. It was quaint, seemed safe enough and a pleasant walk for the evening. The restroom building looked rustic from the outside, but was clean on the inside.

4 /5 Thomas: Large open Space , only thing id Like to see is some modern exercise equipment or similar for adults to workout in that beautiful open space as well. Im a fisherman and the river is lovely there! I didnt see any no fishing signs so I assume its allowed, it would be so busy there all the time if the town could talk the state into stocking it with trout during the stocking schedule. Its a nice easy terrain that would be excellent to bring young children to teach them how to fish and a relaxing day for older people that cant trek the mountain streams for the elusive trout anymore but want to get out and do what they love.

3 /5 Jessica Carlton: Its overall good park untill it rains... the water there is awful after a rain!! So far its only park near us so were kinda still with it I do like the exercise stuff they have preety cool! Would be nice to see something different there like a merry go round! Dawsonville park is soo much better I think it could be if brung up an things fixed replaced etc

3 /5 J.C. Wren: Weve been to Pitts Park for several events (crafts fair, car show, and a fund raiser), and its a small city park. It has a playground, rest, and a small pavilion. Theres adequate parking when there are no events, but expect to park on the street if there is. The real downside to Pitts Park is that it borders a large creek/small river and is in the flood plain. Half an inch of rain, and the entire right side of the park is under water. Any significant rain and the entire park floods (a couple people were arrested when kayaking in the park after a major rain event). If it floods 2 or 3 days before an event, wear your wellies (rain boots, preferably hip waders). Ideally there should be a retaining wall, but Im guessing its impractical due to cost and likely federal or state water laws. We jokingly call it Pitts Lake after a storm.
