5 /5 Allie Johnson: This park opened in 1927, but is still kept up and a nice place to go hiking. There is a short steep looping trail not far inside the main entrance, which follows Sandy Creek at the end. The multi-use trail runs beside the lake and continues over to Dauset Trails--a 3.25 mile walk. You can see some native plants, but sadly, a lot of invasive ones also. The shaggy bark hickories are a beautiful sight, and you can usually see river turtles, snakes, and salamanders on a good day. No restroom facilities at either trailhead, but there are facilities elsewhere in the park. Also visit the old cemetery on Lake Clark Road, with graves as old as 1845. A great look at history!
