2 /5 S D: TL;DR - Dont make an appointment online. Call instead, or you will not get your intended appointment. Dentist is competent, but you will have to go through a lot of red tape before he will see you. Prepare to spend an entire day and your entire paycheck for emergency dental care here. Now for the long story:
I had a broken tooth with an exposed nerve, it was really starting to hurt, and I was unable to find a dentist willing to see me within the next two weeks, which was what prompted me to seek treatment here.
Last Tuesday, March 4, 2025, I made an appointment online for 1pm. I arrived early and was told the dentist would not be in until 6pm. I took public transportation, so I was pretty much stuck there until I could be seen; so there went my whole day. I had lunch at a local pub and sat in a nearby library while I waited.
I returned around 5pm to wait for the dentist to arrive. Having expected to be treated at 1pm and not having planned to eat lunch first, I did not bring a toothbrush, and one was not provided for me at the office; so I had to walk in with a dirty mouth.
The initial "exam" was a written questionnaire, a blood pressure reading, and a single X-ray taken by the assistant, which set me back $99. She didnt look into my mouth, and she initially told me the dentist wouldnt speak to me. I was given the option to receive two injections of antibiotics and pain meds, along with prescriptions for oral medications, which I think set me back another $200. The dental assistant -- not the dentist -- went over prices and treatment options with me. Suspicious, I was about to walk away and seek treatment elsewhere. Not until after I paid for the medication did the dentist agree to speak to me.
As I couldnt find another dentist who would see me within the next two weeks, I agreed to get a root canal, which was fairly painless. I was told I would need to come back for a crown. The visit cost me $2200, not including the crown I would need.
Dr. Hassan Marwan, the dentist, did a good job, and I will be seeing him in his regular office tomorrow to get a crown and continued dental care. I just wasnt happy with how the clinic is run.
