4 /5 Paul Vetrano: I really enjoyed this museum. Great history of Augusta, a cool James Brown exhibit, and a wonderful room showcasing the history of golf. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a couple of hours if you are in town.

5 /5 Jerel Johnson: This museum is laid out chronologically. The indigenous artifacts are exhibited first with captions about the people, their dwellings, tools and weapons. Then you will stroll through roughly 12,000 years of history. The second floor features military exhibits, entertainment and an exhibit of the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. This museum is a must visit for history buffs and Georgia residents alike.

5 /5 Kat: I thought this was a fantastic museum, with well thought out exhibits covering everything Augusta from the first settlers (15,000 years ago) to more current luminaries.

4 /5 Ramona Carter: I love to go to the annual gingerbread house display. You can bid on the gingerbread houses, and the money goes towards the museum. I’ve won several throughout the years and always am happy to drive from Aiken to pick them up. I will say that if you decide to bid on one, be prepared to rush over at the last minute. They will call you and expect you to be there that day regardless. I still enjoy having the smell of gingerbread throughout the house. I’ve only been through the actual museum once, and it did seem informative and have interesting facts about Augusta. The museum is not free, but the gingerbread house displays are free.
