1 /5 T S: In Summary: NOT BETTER THAN DON TELLO’S. Don’t come close to closing.
Walking in there is an odd smell to the restaurant. Not sure how to describe it… doesn’t smell good. After a minute or two you notice it less.
We ordered: large cheese dip ($10), 10 pc wings, fries & drink combo ($15), Asada Nachos ($10) and 2 Asada Tacos ($3.50 each, $7 total), 1 sweet tea ($2.50). Got refill on both drinks 1x (to go).
Cheese dip came out in a fried flour tortilla bowl. It was real cute except the cheese was not warm. It was lumping up/solidifying at the center. We immediately asked for it to be warmed up. They came back with another one that was clearly not the original one that was brought out the first time. This one was also completely not warm, but it was more of a liquid consistency. We said OK well I guess this is how they serve cheese dip here. Maybe it’s a different type of cheese dip than what we are used to. on the side where jalapeños that were gray green color they did not look fresh or spicy at all… and they weren’t. We also had chips and salsa. Salsa had a thicker consistency. Tasted ok.
A short time later, the Carne Asada tacos came out with the Carne Asada nachos. Both were room temperature at best.
The Asada Nachos had sour cream on them so we asked for it not to have sour cream. Keep in mind, when our order was taken it was not mentioned that sour cream was included. The menu did not state sour cream was on the dish either. We kept the Asada tacos.
While waiting, we tasted the Asada tacos and realized it was not made medium. When ordering we specifically asked for our Asada tacos and Asada nachos to be made medium. The server appeared to write it down and never mentioned anything else about it. I realized later he actually didn’t write anything down though. So I get up and ask the server a second time - mentioning the tacos we have at the table are well done - not medium like we asked and tell him to please make the Asada nachos medium.
They bring out a second plate of Asada nachos but then we see there is still some sour cream on them. More than likely, what was done is that they scraped off the toppings and put new ones on top, but some of it was left over and we noticed it. we bring it to the attention of a different waitress that was walking by at this point. we mentioned that both the asada nachos and the asada tacos are both room temperature at best and that they are not made to medium like we had asked, she takes away both plates and a short time later (8 minutes) they come back with the for the 3rd plates of Asada Nachos and 2nd plate of Asada Tacos - also still at room temperature.
The wings come out and the fries. The fries are super soggy. It looks like pure oil - absolutely disgusting. The wings itself are OK not very good at all.. we ate a few wings. Parts of the wings were warm parts were cold. The rest of it was left behind. They told us the cook used to work at American Deli.
At this point, it is very clear that they are not making this food fresh. Maybe it is because it was 8:15 PM when we walked in and they close at 9 PM.
3 separate plates of asada nachos, 2 plates of asada tacos, 7 and 8 minutes apart - all room temp - clearly made earlier that day - clearly NOT under a heat lamp at minimum. Almost cold!
Then… this meal came to $52!!! This low quality of food for $52 - is a definite NO! We would never come back here. I told the female waitress and the manager we were not happy. I asked what was she going to do about it and thankfully the manager gave us a refund. In Spanish, she told the male waiter, we do not sell anything medium, only well done. Do not let people order medium. It is all already made well done.
Food is a 1 star!!! Gross. Please cook the food as it is ordered. Very unprofessional… 2 stars for service bc you gave us a refund but you should have also offered considering how much problems there was with our meal. 1 star for restaurant. Smells bad. We only came bc someone recommended it we would never had stayed just off the smell alone.
