3 /5 Terry Reilley: I’ve eaten dinner here a few times in the past but never lunch. Generally, the food is good albeit there are certain things to avoid, like the fried oysters because they are small and canned (server verified they use canned oysters). They have a nice menu and their weekend specials are usually decent. Which brings us to lunch…
My wife and I decided to eat here for lunch today, which is Wednesday, December 31st of 2025. It wasn’t crowded at all at around 12:15pm and we were our server’s only table. She looks all of 17 with super long ornately-decorated nails. Nice young girl, but not really a good server. We ordered two lunch specials, with my wife having the shrimp basket and I had fish and chips. I asked my server if the fish and chips came with hush puppies and she replied “no”, so I asked my wife if she’d share a side order of five pups with me. We placed our order and it took 25-30 minutes for the food to arrive. All of this was fried, so it literally should’ve taken maybe ten minutes. Again, it wasn’t busy at all. The server never came by to check to see if we needed more drinks or to let us know when our food was coming. That was irritating to say the least.
When our food arrived, my wife had four small shrimp, fries, and two hush puppies, which the server could’ve mentioned when I asked my wife if she wanted to share a side of them and ordered a $5 worth of pups. My fish and chips had one perfectly-angular piece of fish, about a half-inch thick and fries. Definitely fish that was breaded at a processing plant and frozen. No way it was fresh. That said, I’m still wondering why it took 25-30 minutes at this point.
The server didn’t check on us until my wife had finished her meal and had been out of drink for about ten minutes. The server saw that from a distance and brought refills, then brought the check. The two meals were $10 each, plus $5 for pups, and $3 for a Diet Coke. Just under $30 with tax. We tipped her $3 and that was generous considering how poor of a server she was. She clearly sat in the kitchen most of the time rather than making sure her only table was good to go.
By all means, go here at dinner, but avoid at lunch. I think they are very confident in their food since they’re one of the very few seafood places in Canton and quite possibly the only one open for lunch. Their bar was busier than the rest of the place, so I imagine that’s probably par for the course on a regular weekday. We were very disappointed because we like the place and they have good weekend specials. Other reviews will verify that their service needs improvement though.
And for the owner or manager that reads this review, consider not charging $10 for one small piece of frozen fish that takes you 25 minutes to deep fry. You could’ve served six shrimp instead of only four. Four? Really? You can do better.
