1 /5 abrielle rock: Im a HUGE fan of iron age, Ive probably been more times than I can count between Duluth AND Conyers. Though I primarily go to the one in Duluth, the one in Conyers is so much more convenient of a drive because I live closer. When it first opened, it actually wasnt bad at all! Over time, this place has gone down the drain. Today, for the new year, I dined with 3 others. When we were seated, our server took our orders for drinks. It then took him 10-15 minutes to bring us our drinks and starters (rice, rice cakes, japchae, etc). After that it took him another 10 minutes to bring us our first meats. Im NEVER the kind of person to be angry with someone for taking too long, as I work in customer service and understand that things can back up a little bit, and I know servers are required to take care of MULTIPLE tables. However, this server had 4 tables, including mine and hardly tended to them. The restaurant itself was not even a quarter of the way full. None of his tables could get a check in from in except for when he was walking by and they had to grab his attention to ask for something.
Myself and the three others I dined with asked for refills multiple times, along with asking for more sides, only getting refills after we asked what Im assuming was the manager. The "manager" sent over another server who had one table to get us refills, and even that took about 10 minutes. She gave us the excuse that they were understaffed today and things just got really busy... there were max 6 tables with people sitting in them, they were not busy at all. She took our cups back into the kitchen and he came out that 10 minutes later with the drinks. We asked AGAIN for more sides and still never got them.
When we ordered our next set of meat (he asked when he brought us our drinks), the grill was placed on the fire and it took him ANOTHER 10-15 minutes to bring that order out. The grill had started to char with nothing on it from it just sitting there, thats how long it took.
And since it was new years day, there was a mandatory gratuity added to the ticket, which I completely understand, and wouldnt have minded paying if our server had actually done his job. But between ignoring all of his tables and standing up at the bar talking, he didnt do a very good job. Even after multiple complaints, nothing was done. We for sure didnt get our $32 per person price of meat, hell not even our sides.
From now on Ill gladly take the drive to Duluth for Iron Age. Theyre always packed and never have a problem keeping up with their tables. I strongly advise you to do the same. :)
side note: raw brisket fell on the floor next to our table from the plate we were brought, from it being poorly stacked and placed. it was not cleaned up for the rest of our stay (30+ minutes)
