3 /5 Jonathan Allen: This is the restaurant right next to Tramici on SSI and I believe the same group owns both places. TL/DR: Go to Tramici instead.
We went on a Saturday night at 6 which is roughly the same time we went to Tramici a week earlier. The Halyards atmosphere is slightly more upscale feeling, but not drastically. Basically, youll see the same clientele in both restaurants.
Both restaurants were pretty busy, but the service at Halyards took noticeably longer. They may have been short staffed, but it seemed like our server was stretched too thin.
The bread service is the same in both places, and I think its ridiculous that you have to pay for it. To be honest, the free bread at Longhorn is better and its...free. I do like the oil to dip though.
I started with the spicy tuna cones which were disgusting. My mistake for thinking it was going to be sushi. It was cooked tuna in small waffle cones (bizarre already) then filled with way too much spicy mayo. It was like an unmixed tuna sandwich in an ice cream cone with a bunch of fluff for visuals. $18 for four tiny cones, mostly filled with mayo.
I played it safe and got their $23 burger after. Its...a burger. It was perfectly fine, but not $23 fine. The fries and bacon were good, but that meal should have been $15-20 max.
My wife got a salad and some type of vegetable soup since she doesnt eat meat. Add two bottles of sparkling water because Brunswick area water is disgusting so you have no choice.
After the tip is was just over $100. It took minimum 15 minutes to get the check after I put my card on the table as a hint. The people around us also seemed to notice the wait times with their respective servers.
As I said at the start, just go next door instead. The menu is way less floofy, but still high quality. Our server there was fantastic and I actually want to try more of their menu. Halyards feels more like youre paying for atmosphere.
