5 /5 SouthFlorida Thrifter: Wow. Ive lived for decades in Miami and Atlanta, and this little inconspicuous place on 280 between Cordele and Americus is one of the most unique dining experiences Ive ever had. It was almost like when you ask your great aunt if shes got any liquor around, and she breaks out a bottle of MacCallan 25 like its no big deal: nonchalantly premium in a comfortable place.
The food was top notch period. I havent seen a cut of meat that thick and beautiful for under $50 ($42 and well worth it) since the 90s.
Good service is attentive without being disruptive, friendly but not contrived, and they hit it right in the mark. Effervescent minus the kind of ostentation Ive usually seen with that level of food and ambiance.
Accomplishing homey atmosphere in fine dining is no easy feat, but Daphne Lodge does it and Im not even sure how. Its more about a feel than a look, and its there.
Highly recommend. Worth taking a detour off 75, but check the hours. A place like this isnt open all day every day, and it shouldnt be, because its special.
