1 /5 Sue Henderson: My cousin paid for her & my aunt a plate right when we walked into the restaurant. $15 a piece. On the way to sit down at the table, however; my 82 year old aunt got sick on her stomach. My cousin fixed my aunt a sprite & the waitress brought her crackers. My aunt took nausea med & sat at the table while the rest of us ate. She started to feel better but we were ready to go so my cousin got a to go plate & made my aunt a plate. The owners son came to the table & said we were going to have to weigh the plate & pay for it. My cousin explained that my aunt had not eaten & that she had already paid $15 for a plate that she had not eaten. So my cousin said we could weigh the plate but to give her her $15 back so that she could pay for it because it wasn’t fair to make her pay for two plates. The son gave her the $15 & then the owner took the plate my cousin made for my aunt from her & left with it. Then the son told us my aunt had eaten something so if she wanted food to go she would have to pay for it. My cousin told him that’s what she was going to do but that his mom took the plate she was going to pay for. Needless to say, 5 of us ate a meal & my 82 year old aunt left with nothing to eat but sprite & crackers. We tried to explain but they did not listen nor did they seem to care or show compassion to my aunt. It’s not like we were trying to steal extra food. My aunt got sick. That obviously didn’t matter to them. My aunt asked us on the way to the car, “What did I do wrong?” We had to leave the restaurant then stop & get my aunt something to eat on our way home back to Waycross. I certainly hope they don’t ever have to encounter this type of customer service with someone they love.
