1 /5 Dede Harris: I would love to return to this store, but due to the treatment from the employees I do not believe I will be returning to this store. I know the employees at Paula’s watch you like hawk the moment you walk in. They also do not let you get a foot in the door before they tell you about the deals. I was excited to come in today because I had a few things in mind to buy and knew Paula’s was just the place! Unfortunately, shortly after browsing and finding 3 items that were super cute and was hoping to browse more when a young employee immediately began insisting I put them in a basket. I politely refused, but then a manager stepped in, telling me I had to either place my items in a basket or leave them behind the counter.
To my shock and embarrassment, the manager spoke into an earpiece, instructing staff to “watch out” for me—as if carrying a couple of items made me a threat. I could feel every gaze in the store, and what should have been a simple shopping trip became humiliating. I quickly looked at one more item and checked out, feeling singled out, shamed, and unwelcome.
This treatment was degrading, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable. No customer should ever feel this way while simply trying to shop. I have reached out to others in the community to see if they have had any issues and they said they refuse to shop there anymore because of how the employees and manager treat customers. It is so sad. I do not do many Google reviews but I was so embraced by this treatment. I understand the store is clustered and it can be easy for someone to slip something in their pockets. I am not sure how anyone can stand shopping here. I would love to come back, but something has to change.
