5 /5 Thomas Hagan: While we were staying in Helen, we took the beautiful mountain drive up to Hiawassee, and what a gem we found in Creekside General Store! We originally stopped in just on a whim, but the experience turned out to be fantastic. The ladies working there were just the nicest people you could hope to meet—they truly made us feel right at home, like we were family browsing their wonderful collection. We ended up picking up several great souvenirs, but the real highlight was finding a beautiful, handcrafted knife by the local knifemaker, Blane Berryman. If you’re ever in the area, or even if you have to take the scenic route like we did, Creekside General Store is well worth the stop for unique items and that wonderful, welcoming North Georgia hospitality.
