5 /5 Laura: Breathtakingly beautiful, MUST VISIT whimsical national wildlife refuge! The pictures are no substitute for how it feels being there on the water! I saw a beautiful bride in a beautiful white wedding dress taking wedding photos or getting married on the dock today and I feel so blessed I got to see that as part of the scenery my first time here. I just happened to be driving by and stopped in the store and the man with the hat that says ‘Papa’ was SO nice and shared a lovely fishing story with me that really made me feel like part of living southeastern history. You have to go experience the southern hospitality, history, natural beauty and whimsy of this place words cannot describe. I can’t wait to go back to fish or rent a kayak or canoe here.

5 /5 William Reaume: Came here to do some paperwork while waiting for my flight in Valdosa. Got done and decided to rent a kayak. Best decision Ive made all year. So beautiful! The women working was the sweetest. Very good prices. $20 for 4 hours. I paid $10 for the hour I had to kill. Cant tell you how worth it.

5 /5 Adrian Nicolescu (Soleil Roi): The area is nice but looks like a dead ecosystem. Not good for fishing, no water birds, no alligators. Just a big lake full of cypress trees, a few small birds and lizards. This is nice but looks there is not law enforcement as the official site pretends. The rule of no motorized boats is broken; I saw a lot of people with them on the lake. A little dirty for a wild area, I found garbage, glass and plastic bottles in the bushes and on the trail. The bait shop is poor, so bring your bait if you want to try fishing. Finally, they pretend the fishing is open 24/24 but they closed the bathrooms at 4pm so if you need to pee you have to use bushes; this is not ok and could put you in danger especialy in the night time.

5 /5 Jacob Olson: This is such a gorgeous lake to just come and hang out at. The dock is large and well maintained. I suggest going at around sunset. Maybe an hour or so before. Thatll give you time to enjoy the trees and even spot a gator or two! Theres also turtles and frogs to look for, and there is a hiking trail as well.
