2 /5 jennifer anderson: I tried out this church as I am Catholic and live in Monroe. I grew up at St. Olivers church about 18 miles from St. Annas, so not exactly convenient. Although the church is small, its beautiful. The priest is easy to understand and I enjoyed the homily. HOWEVER.....a lot of the mass was in Latin. I understand thats how it USED to be, but its 2025. Speaking Latin does no good for me. I get nothing out of the service if I cant understand it.
Also another huge reason I wont go back, theres no music. Just some old guy acoustically chanting. It was very cringe. I love old Catholic music. Singing is another form of praise and prayer. I almost had second hand embarrassment for him on how bad it was.
Maybe some like this old school church approach, but its not for me. I want to have a connection with God/Jesus. Get something out of church. Sing my heart to Jesus. This just wasnt it for me. Sad as theres not another Catholic church around here. This is the reason the Catholic church is losing attendance.
