Johnny Chaffin: Nice place to rest from your walking in Madison, Ga. Nice scenic historic town to walk in as well. The park provides places to bring your food and have a family picnic.
D-Ray: I have driven by signs for the Vann House many times, and actually drove by it a couple of times without realizing it. I was surprised when I realized it wasnt where I thought it was. The Vann Family played an integral part of Georgia, and American History. James Vann was a "Half-Breed," born into his mothers clan. He was a shrewd businessman. He was major land owner, and owned 100 slaves. In the early 1800s, Vann was murdered at a tavern in Forsyth County, GA. His son, Joseph eventually took over the family farm until being forced out by the State Militia. Joe owned many taverns & steam boats. He met his death in a steamboat explosion.
It is important to note, the VANN HOUSE Hours;
Thursday-Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sundays: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
December-March closed on Sundays.
The Vann House can only be viewed through guided tours, offered at the top of every hour. Last daily tour begins at 4 p.m.
Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Day.
While there is handicap parking, many of the buildings, including the Vann House, are NOT Wheelchair accessible.
There are several picnic tables on the grounds. I would advise watching the interpretive video first, and visiting the small museum area. The tours are limited, so note those times. There many interpretive placards along the walk. There is also a short nature trail, if you have time.
Saye Braucht: Amazing spot for a view! The overlooks are great. The hikes are moderate and fun. The fire tower is neat to see even if you cant go up it. Not too busy during the week. State Park parking is just $5! Really fun spot to bring a lunch.
Miranda Barney: Went for a Birthday, did the rooftop tour- very entertaining and unique experience! Highly recommend this for a night out with friends!
Sara Lobdell: Playground got an update!!!... I think it is still in progress as one set of swings (baby/small toddler swings) was missing from before! Now there is a covered gym area with 8 pieces of equipment using only your body weight. Obviously its new equipment so all of it was moving nicely! Each station had instructions to use the equipment properly. Great idea! My son was loving it plus I could exercise while he was playing! Win win!
Kimberly Craft: This is a beautiful park that is worth stopping by with or without kids! The play area is awesome for little ones,and they have the spots where scenes were filmed from TVD.
Victoria McBrayer: I had the absolute best experience with Main Street Trolleys Movie Tours! My tour guides, Ashley and Bre, were beyond amazing. They explained everything so well and walked us through how to capture the best footage. Their knowledge of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies was incredible, packed with fascinating fun facts.
One of the coolest parts was how they played videos along the journey, perfectly timed to match the locations we were visiting—it was like stepping right into the shows!
I called ahead to let them know I was arriving just in time, and they were so sweet and accommodating, making sure I didn’t miss out.
They also did an amazing job keeping the crowd engaged, making sure there was never an awkward or quiet moment. The energy was great the entire time!
This was hands down the best tour experience I’ve ever had. If youre a fan of these shows, this tour is an absolute must!
