  • St. Simons Island Lighthouse Museum - St Simons Island
    St. Simons Island Lighthouse Museum
Sophia Partin: This museum is a great site to take your family to. The Costal Georgia Historical Society building is next to the lighthouse. You can purchase a single ticket or get the combination ticket if you plan to go to the WW2 Home Front museum as well. The staff was friendly and answered our questions professionally. The museum has a great 10 minute video about the history of the lighthouse. You then get to walk up the steps of the lighthouse just like the previous lighthouse keepers did. The view at the top was very beautiful.

    Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation
Lauren Elizabeth: Visiting this plantation was an incredibly eye-opening and educational experience. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that great care had been taken to preserve the site’s deep and complex history. The tour was thoughtful, respectful, and comprehensive, highlighting not just the beauty of the grounds, but also the difficult and important stories that are part of its legacy. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable, engaging, and deeply respectful of the subject matter. She didn’t shy away from the harder truths and offered insightful context that helped us better understand the lives of the people who lived and labored here. It was more than just a tour, it was a powerful learning experience.

Casey: A free experience that aligns with a relaxing beach, historical trail experience, and shaded picnic area with bathrooms nearby. Stop a moment to climb the small viewing platform to enjoy the view of the beach and inhale the salty, soothing breeze!
    Horton House - Jekyll Island
    Horton House
Casey: This neat little historic spot can be explored by pulling into its parking lot off the side of the road. It’s a few minutes’ detour, where you can explore the inside of the ruins, as well as read a few different plaques set up to explained the location’s historical significance. Its nearby to a bike path and walking trail, making a great stop if you’re exploring the island!

Kathy Scoggins Smith: This is definitely a gem. My grandchildren are from 5 to 16. All 5 of them loved this place. It is peaceful, serene, beautiful and so worth your drive. Way out in the country and such a beautiful drive. The history of how this was built is amazing. On the side of a small stream and surrounded by beautiful flowers. The most exciting for the children was finding figurines, stain glass windows & special little surprises inside most of the rock formations. I could only add 50 pictures but I took so many more. BTW - This is free but you can leave money in a donation box to help keep this area up. It sits behind a beautiful church.
    Yellow Park - Calhoun
    Yellow Park
abigail vanburen: Clean, well kept playground. Has a smaller and tall set of slides so any age kids will have fun. Swings, acsessable swing, monkey bars, and more. Was a great stop. Worth the short drive away from I75 for a stop to get out some energy.

Mae Ward: Its a great little park its so peaceful right by the lake usually not many people its very easy walk around and nice place to sit a relax
    Palmer Memorial Park - Calhoun
    Palmer Memorial Park
J Mirville: The dog park is beautiful and well set up. My only issue is there is people that don’t clean up after themselves. This could be due to the poop bags being out. Also, the human fountain works but the doggie fountain is broken. If these things were fixed it would definitely be a 5 star place for your pup. Lots of room to run, grassy areas, and mulch areas with toys.
