1 /5 Shelby Lee: I am absolutely livid. I had heard some mixed reviews about this pediatrician, but we moved to jesup, and wanted to establish a pediatrician here, plus both my children have adhd and needed refills.
I called 3 weeks and scheduled an intake visit, I explained that my kids needed to see the dr bc their meds needed to be filled by sept 13. They said ok no problem. I also explained that I had some concerns with the meds my daughter is on. They again said, no problem, that the dr would definitely address my concerns.
Went to the intake appointment last week. Everyone was very nice. I again explained my kids were on meds for their adhd and that I needed to schedule an appointment to handle their med refill and address the concerns about the meds my daughter is on. They again said no problem because they would not do the intake appointment and the medication appointment at the same time.
The medication appointment was today.
I shut my business down early, ran to both schools to pick up both kids and arrived at the appointment on time. Was taken back to the room, the nurses were again extremely nice. I gave the nurse paperwork my daughters school had sent for them to fill out bc my daughter is having a lot of issues focusing and everything at school. I could tell something was wrong immediately bc the nurse said that the doctor wasn’t going to fill that out. I explained the school couldn’t continue with their intervention without the signature from the dr.
The dr finally came in, and immediately said that they WERE NOT TAKING ADDITIONAL ADHD PATIENTS RIGHT NOW. I had to do a double take and make sure I heard that correctly. Because I had had 2 previous conversations with this office about the needs of my children WITH ADHD and that they would need their meds refilled/ and I had concerns about the meds for my daughter.
The doctor confirmed that I had wasted all of my time coming to the initial intake and this appointment. Not to mention it’s not like I can have my kids at a new doctor tomorrow or anything. It takes weeks to get kids in with a new dr. I have no solution for my kids, and now they get to try to manage through school without meds whatsoever all because this doctors office lied about being able to help my children. I SPECIFICALLY LAID OUT THEIR NEEDS BEFORE I EVER MADE THE APPOINTMENT. They even had me call my insurance and have them changed to the primary care doctor.
The doctor had the audacity to say, “I’m gonna have a conversation with my staff, this shouldn’t have happened.” Well sir, this is your practice so that’s a reflection on how you run, or in this case, don’t run, your business. Also a PROFESSIONAL probably would have just said, “man we totally screwed you over, and obviously you’re sitting in front of me with an appointment that you showed up on time for with both kids, so I’ll make an exception and see your kids for this issue” or at least refilled the meds that they have been on so that we could find a doctor that doesn’t “make mistakes about their availability”
To make things even better, your nurse called an hour after this visit to ask why I didn’t turn in the adhd questionnaire that they had given me, stating if this office was going to treat them they needed those forms on file.
I guess it’s news to your staff that you’re not taking new patients, especially ones with prior adhd diagnosis trying to establish care because they have moved!
