2 /5 Kallie smith: I typically bite my nails due to anxiety, but I recently broke that habit and was finally able to grow them out long enough to get a proper manicure with builder gel. When I arrived, I asked for exactly that—a manicure with builder gel. However, once I sat down, the technician immediately told me that my nails “grew the wrong way” and that she couldn’t apply builder gel.
I let her know I was okay with keeping my nails short and would be fine with regular gel. Instead, she cut off the nails I had worked hard to grow out and began gluing tips on, which is considered a full set—a completely different service with a significantly higher price.
After cutting my nails, she also insisted I needed an eyebrow wax. While I understand that this industry involves sales and tips, I came in knowing what I wanted, and I wasn’t given the service I requested.
To make matters worse, the end result was poorly done. There’s visible dust cured under the gel, creating a bubbly appearance. While the nails may look cute from a distance, the experience was disappointing overall. I didn’t appreciate the technician’s attitude or the lack of communication throughout the process.
Unfortunately I am unable to add a photo for some reason, but I have taken pictures and am willing to share with anyone who would like proof.
