What should have been a routine braces removal turned into a distressing and expensive experience. Two days later, we noticed a noticeable gray discoloration in tooth #11, a sign of nerve damage. After reviewing photos from that same day (both ours and theirs), it was clear the damage was already present, yet no one informed us, not even during the second visit that day for retainer delivery.
The tooth now requires a root canal, a crown, and ongoing dental care, a highly unusual outcome for a child. Beyond the dental oversight, we also faced administrative mistakes that affected our insurance coverage. The clinic downplayed everything, attributing it to lighting and photo angles instead of acknowledging the obvious.
I’ve filed a complaint with the Georgia Board of Dentistry. Parents: be present, ask questions, and never assume silence means everything is fine. What we experienced should not happen to any other child.
