Dalton Freight Depot and Visitors Center - Dalton (GA)

5 /5 Stacie Hahn: This was a fantastic place to visit if you are with a train enthusiast! They’re open til 4pm, a lovely historical building, lots of visitor center info and brochures. The bathrooms were spotless, tables out front for picnics (a brewery/bar shared the parking lot if you need a pub snack) we had a great time! The visitor center attendant was very sweet and welcoming. I can’t wait to visit there again! We saw 2 trains within a 30 minute time period; midweek around 3:30pm. The schedules are not set, but you’re more likely to catch trains during the weekdays during business hours, compared to a Sunday afternoon. (Just my observation from living 5 miles from this depot on a CSX rail line… weekends are more quiet.) check this place out if you’re in the neighborhood!! :)

4 /5 Traveling Lady Railfan: Great looking building but closed when we were there so cant comment on the inside. Has a platform you can sit and watch trains go by but we sat and waited 3 hours and saw zero trains, so we left.

5 /5 Austin Poss: I love this place I they have a railcam thats on YouTube call virtual railfan and I got to see alot trains and im going today to see them and I hope I catch a heritage unit other Norfolk southern or csx and union pacific

5 /5 Dick Burgman: Was a cool depot. They had a monitor for the train schedule. Saw 2 trains pass while we were there. The lady in the visitors center was very helpful for things to do in the area. They also had a small museum on tufting blankets and such that was quite interesting. The start of the carpet industry. The restrooms were very clean. They had a display and explained about the Sherman Necktie. What they did when he had the rails pulled up to stop the trains.

5 /5 Adam Ludwig: Great customer service. The lady was very friendly and informative. Still hoping to see a train or 4 before leaving since I keep hearing this is such a busy track.
