4 /5 Ken: The good points first. The chips and salsa were good. The chips were the thin style that I most enjoy. The salsa, though certainly not hot, had a nice mild spice to it that lends itself to over dipping. Our waitress started strong, but as the meal went on we saw less and less of her, to the point at the end we were trying to get her attention to ask for the check. Not a huge deal, the restaurant was filling up, but we were to the point that we were ready to go.
On the subject of the check. This is definitely one of the higher priced Mexican restaurants around. The prices reflect a higher end restaurant than what you get here. This is an old business converted into a restaurant, not a fine dining establishment. If you had any doubt about that just sit inside and listen to the door bell ringing every time someone opens the front door. It gets old really quick.
The food itself was disappointing. Everything was just bland and tasteless. I had never before felt it necessary at any other Mexican restaurant to have to put a heavy dose of salt and pepper on my food just to get any kind of taste from it. My wife and I each had completely different meals and both were tasteless. Maybe the restaurant is “heartsmart” or something and doesn’t put salt in anything it cooks, or maybe on that night they had a new cook. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t try them again.
