4 /5 Mia Caringal: I totally lucked out getting lost and finding this restaurant on a day they were open!!
I decided to pit stop in Dublin for lunch on way to Savannah. I drove by and saw the open sign was lit. I was intrigued this is a Soul Food Restaurant open since 1955.
This block of downtown has plenty of on street parking in front of the restaurant. I noticed a parking lot across the street. However, Im not local and am unsure if you can park in the parking lot while visiting downtown.
I was debating between Chicken and Dumplings or Smothered Pork Chops as part of todays specials. Ive recently cooked two pork dishes so I went with the Chicken and Dumplings.
As I was headed to Savannah and having seafood for dinner, I also passed on the Fried Fish on their menu.
There was a closed off buffet service area with entrees and sides. My entree came with two sides. My sides were a 5+ in taste! I had the Candied Yams that had a Citrus Burst in the flavor profile. Im guessing Orange Juice is an ingredient. I also had Creamed Yellow Corn. All of this is home made!
The Chicken and Dumplings were a little salty for me. But I rarely cook with salt. They added 3 extra pieces of Baked Chicken to my plate. I had an ample amount of Dumplings served to me.
I also had the Corn Muffin but it was just OK.
For a beverage I went with Sweet Tea.
The owner stopped by and let me know his mom started the restaurant. His sister and niece were in the restaurant today.
It was really cozy and quiet enough to enjoy a conversation or meal alone.
I paid $16.20 for my meal.
I will definitely return!
