2 /5 Deidre Taft: I was part of a group who had planned a luncheon at J&D. Our reservation was for 11 people who had said they would be attending. It ended up that only five showed up. When we told the server that it looked like no one else was going to show up, she very curtly told us that the next time we needed to make a reservation for the number who were going to be there. I told her that was what we did and that we couldn’t control who actually showed up. She continued to argue with me for several minutes saying things like they had had to move tables around to accommodate us and something about them setting aside two servers. I would have understood more if the place had been very busy, but the cafe wasn’t even half full. I have been to J&D’s several times, even having several group luncheons there, and have always had decent service, but being chastised by the server for something that was out of my control has put a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning.
