5 /5 Daniel Clawson: I had been to Fancy Girl Farms for coffee one time before, but had never stayed for a meal until now. I’m not sure what took me so long, but I’m glad that I finally did.
The menu was relatively short, but plenty of options to satisfy nearly any dietary need or preference. We ordered the prime rib, which is only available on the weekends and the cherry smoked pork chops. I was a little worried when the waitress didn’t ask how we wanted our meat, but the prime rib came out a nice medium and the pork chops were well done. I’m one who doesn’t mind a medium pork chop, but not everyone feels comfortable with that, so I understand why they didn’t ask. The chops were moist and probably brined because they had an almost “ham-like” taste and consistency. It was unexpected, but not unpleasant. The dipping sauce that came with it was particularly good on the sweet potato.
The best bite of the evening though I think was taking one of the mini cornbread muffins and dipping it in the creamed corn. That was an absolute treat. Also, don’t forget to try the 15 layer cake. It was the real deal and not someone counting the frosting as a layer.
