3 /5 Amanda Rominger: I’ve passed El Matador in Fort Oglethorpe countless times and finally decided to give it a try. There was no wait and we were seated right away, which was a nice surprise. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly.
The salsa was excellent—definitely a standout. The chips were just okay at first, but the second batch was warm and much better. As for the entrees, they were decent—not the best I’ve had in town, but still enjoyable. I will say the Mexican rice was really good and flavorful.
The restaurant was clean, the staff welcoming, and overall it was a pleasant experience. I wouldn’t say it’s my top pick for Mexican food in the area, but I’d definitely return occasionally.
