2 /5 Doug Marshall: Stopped by City Tavern in Carrollton and honestly… it was just okay. The food didn’t offend me, but it sure didn’t impress me either. I had a burger with tater tots and some mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were fine — I didn’t spit them out or send them back, so I guess that’s something.
I went with the pimento cheese burger. The idea of that is usually a home run — I’ve had some really solid ones before. So I came in with a little expectation… but what I got felt like the kitchen was just going through the motions. It wasn’t bad, it just didn’t have that punch or flavor you hope for. More like, "Yeah, that’s a burger," and less like, "Man, I’d come back for that."
Service was okay. Not great, not bad. Just kind of… there. Like the rest of the experience.
I didn’t leave mad. I didn’t leave wowed. I just left — and probably won’t be back. Not because of some terrible moment, but because there are better spots in town that give you a reason to come back. This one didn’t.
