Mr. John Jenkins was our closing attorney, and since that time, we have been back with a smaller need for help, Mr. Jenkins is one terrific person, as an attorney and friend to us. KimBella Black: ATTENTION EMANUEL COUNTY RESIDENTS: Please read before you make a decision. I want to share my personal experience with Emanuel County Superior Court and Judge Richard McKneely, in hopes that it helps others understand what they might face. In my opinion, this court system failed my family and me. My grandfather had a will, which we believed to be properly signed, notarized, and on file with the clerk’s office. Shockingly, the original document went missing, and no one in the clerks office could explain why. I had a copy, and under Georgia Code § 53-4-46, I thought it should stand — especially given my close relationship with my grandfather and the support we had from witnesses and legal counsel. Unfortunately, the outcome did not reflect what I felt my grandfather intended. Despite what I believed to be strong evidence, I was not granted the inheritance I thought was clearly laid out for me. It was incredibly painful to see it go to individuals my grandfather had been estranged from for over a decade. I’ve also felt dismissed and disrespected during multiple legal interactions with this court. This is just my experience, and I encourage others to do their research and be cautious. My family and I look forward to participating in future Emanuel County elections and supporting candidates besides Richard McKeely who reflect the values we believe in.
