Fitness @ Five - Athens
Barry Smith: Came in for a day pass. Took me 5 minutes to realize I found something great and became a member. Awesome location, equipment, people, and staff.
Strength and Strike Fitness - Athens
Kacelyn Cadena: This gym is amazing! I immediately felt welcomed into this community when I first started coming to the classes. The coaches work with your skill level but will push you if they feel you can do more, it’s always the perfect push! The people that attend are so supportive! They make the classes fun and enjoyable. I always get a great workout when I attend! So glad I found this place!
Classic City Bodybuilding - Athens
James Naigus: You are reading reviews because you are trying to find the perfect gym for you to train - congratulations, you found it! Whether you are a veteran lifter or just getting into fitness, Classic City Bodybuilding ("The Dungeon") has the combination of excellent equipment and a hard core vibe yet ethos of mutual respect. Special shout-out to Briggs for everything he does to help gymgoers get those gains.
Georgia Strength / Georgia Barbell Club - Athens
Amber Cathey Lahm: Ali has coached me so well through my pregnancy at the Moms who Move class. She motifies each class for where I am at in my pregnancy and how my body is coping. She has taught me breathing techniques and stretches to help with all the new things happening in me. I have learned so much from her! She is extremely mindful about me and babys safety, which has given me the confidence to continue in my health journey. Even after not coming to the gym hardly at all in my first trimester, she has been able to help me get back on track and feel good. The class is full of other mommas, so as a first-time mom, I am grateful for the supportive community.
Creed Fitness Athens - Athens
Andrew Kennedy: I started my fitness journey at CREED in June 2021, and then joined the Athens location upon its opening in 2022. I have genuinely loved every moment of my membership at this gym. The team at Creed Athens works hard to see that members get their bodies moving, that they learn movements with confidence, that they set AND achieve their goals, and that they have a ton of fun in a supportive community. There is no shaming in this gym. Coaches Austin & Rachel Bates, and Austin Malone are some of my favorites as I have seen them most in the morning and afternoon group classes I’ve attended. They consistently provide detailed attention to form and care for how we are moving our bodies. You can rest assured that you are in good hands to ensure maximum growth and minimal risk of injury. At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong with giving CREED a shot. I took a chance on it with hardly any gym experience, and my physical well-being has never been better. PLUS, I’ve made friends I love working out with. You won’t regret it.
First Class Fitness - Gym, Personal Training, Group Classes, Nutrition - Athens
Daniel Blair: Fantastic gym, 24/7 with electronic access, and tons of machines and free weights. The owner is incredibly passionate about making this a clean, comfortable, and safe workout environment. The security helps my wife feel comfortable coming on her own any time of day, so highly recommend for men and women.
Anytime Fitness - Athens
R R: Really nice, small gym. Kalysta was very nice and welcoming. Cubbies but no lockers. A couple of power racks. Dumbbells go up to 110. Manufactured barbells go up to about the same. Not sure how it is when it gets busy though. Update: still enjoying it
Anytime Fitness - Athens
Tony Oliva: A decent gym. The people were friendly, the equipment is in good repair and there was ample space. The only real negative is that I was working legs and their squat racks (one of those erector set multi purpose deals) was found wanting. They were more situated for bench press and the like as the safety bars did not extend very far in case of failure. Nor did any position face a mirror. Maybe thats a personal preference but not being able to use a mirror to center a bar on my shoulders, or to see the depth and balance of my squats, or gauge if mybplates are drifting towards the safety bars is a deal breaker. No hack squat machine either (v squat dont count). I cut squats short and would sek out a different AF for leg day. Other than that though, nice place.
SPARC GYM - Athens
Michael Burwell: I LOVE SPARC! The Ignite class in the morning gets the job done! I look forward to getting back into my morning routine. I went to class every day for four months and ate a modest diet without giving everything up and I still lost 30lbs. The class really helps work my whole body and not just the spots that I normally work when I workout on my own. My biggest gripe about SPARC is the cost... The cost is several times what another gym membership would be and is triple what were currently paying for the family membership at the YMCA. There arent discounts for a couple or a family either, so me and my wife would be spending $300/month minimum. I was also bothered that the membership did not include Yoga. I hadnt planned on attending the Yoga class, but after paying my monthly membership I didnt like that they were going to charge another $15 per Yoga class too. This may have changed in the last several months. That being said, I still plan to go back as soon as my schedule permits even though the minimum membership is now a whopping $150/month.
Planet Fitness - Athens
Planet Fitness
Don Goff: Always a good experience at this location where I initially signed up. I was concerned a bit being 54 and this being a college town, (go dawgs) which doesn’t interest me but the clientele is really chill and laid back with minimal roosters walking around.
