1 /5 Ashley J: Intake nurse Lynn is very unprofessional. she doesnt read the paperwork that they make you fill out before you get into her office, then proceeds to ask the same questions as whats on the paperwork and rewrite it down on the same paper.. why make patients write it down if they are going to ask it again only to write it down... The knowledge that my younger brother took his own life was on the paperwork and is more than enough information to satisfy her nurse intake level position, but she felt entitled to dig into how he took his life. She also made statements about what the *doctor* will and wont do within 5 minutes of sitting down in her office. I called her out for stepping out of her lane, and she began glaring silently at me for what felt like a full minute. I asked her if she was going to move on. She snapped at me that she was waiting for me to finish. I had been silent the whole time she was glaring. So I walked out of her office and to the front desk to ask to schedule another day to speak to another person. Lynn followed me there and felt it necessary to snottily say, "Just so you know.. the doctor will ask the same questions. " So let the *doctor* ask them then, at least its their place to do so. But Ill have you know, my last doctor that I spoke with in May never asked "how" my brother took his life, they just offered condolences and increased my anti-depressant. How many times are you going to make someone who is actively seeking help for *active* depression related struggles relive the traumas? I just wrote everything down and within the first 5 minutes of the intake appointment she tells me basically that half of the help I need, I will not be receiving, as if she has the authority to say such, and then pries into an extremely sensitive subject to satisfy her own curiosity. The "how" of someone taking their life is not relevant to the intake nurse, and I doubt its even relevant to the doctor. When I arrived, Lynn was attempting to gossip to the admin lady (who was very kind, but I didnt catch her name) about another patient named Trey who was in the newspaper, apparently. The admin lady shut her down by pointing out that she was working, i.e. checking me in. I genuinely believe Lynn was only asking how my brother took his life so that she could gossip about me later. I will press charges if I hear any word of gossip make it out of Avita about myself or my brother. The front desk lady said I could call her to reschedule bec my phone restarted at that point and Lynn kept standing there glaring at me after i repeated at the front desk my opinion that she was stepping out of line by making statements and asking questions that the actual doctor is in charge of. After thinking about it on my way home, I will not be returning to this office. If they are willing to employ one unprofessional like Lynn, how can I trust the professionalism of anyone else employed there?
I will say again though the front desk lady who I neglected to get her name was friendly and funny and kind, and I greatly appreciate her reminding me that I had the option to leave and call her later bec in the moment I was too upset and shocked to remember that was an option.
